Because the first syllable of its English pronunciation is ma, we translate it into malleable steel in Chinese, but strictly speaking, the Chinese translation should be malleable iron (malleable cast iron).

It should be noted that although malleable iron is malleable cast iron and has a certain toughness, it cannot be used for forging. Malleable steel pipe fittings and malleable cast iron pipe fittings are named by the material of pipe fittings, while galvanized pipe fittings are named according to the surface treatment method of pipe fittings (it can also be said that it is used for the connection of galvanized pipe).

Malleable steel pipe fittings because of its material is iron, so when it is exposed to the air, it is easy to rust. In particular, our malleable steel pipe fittings are mainly used in fire fighting and water supply projects, and the pipe fittings are exposed to damp environment for a long time, which is more prone to rust. Therefore, malleable steel pipe fittings need to do anti-rust treatment on their surface. The surface rust prevention treatment of malleable steel pipe fittings is generally divided into two kinds: hot galvanizing and cold galvanizing. Hot dip galvanizing refers to the zinc treatment method of dipping the pipe into the zinc liquid melted at a high temperature of 700-800 degrees, so as to cover the surface of the pipe with a layer of zinc. Cold galvanizing, also known as electrogalvanizing, relies on the electrophoretic phenomenon to transfer zinc hanging on the anode to the surface of the tube hanging on the cathode, and then forms a thin and uniform zinc layer.

(galvanizing) also called hot dip zinc and hot dip galvanizing: it is an effective metal corrosion prevention method, mainly used in metal structure facilities in various industries. It is to immerse the steel parts after rust removal into the melting zinc liquid about 500 ° C, so that the surface of the steel member is attached to the zinc layer, so as to play the purpose of anti-corrosion. Hot galvanizing is developed from the older hot plating method, since the French hot galvanizing was applied to industry in 1836, it has a history of more than 170 years. In the past 30 years, with the rapid development of cold rolled strip steel, hot dip galvanizing industry has been developed on a large scale.

The cost of hot-dip galvanizing is relatively high compared to cold galvanizing, but because the galvanized layer is relatively thick, and the zinc layer on the surface reacts with the iron matrix at high temperature, there is a transition layer between the zinc layer and the iron matrix, so the zinc layer and the pipe fitting matrix are particularly strong and not easy to fall off. Although the cost of cold galvanized layer is relatively low, the zinc layer is uniform and beautiful, but because electroplating is only to cover a layer of zinc metal film on the surface of the pipe fitting matrix, the galvanized layer is thin and easy to fall off.

Because malleable steel pipe fittings are connected by wire fastening, it can also be called wire fastening pipe fittings (wire fittings), however, it should be noted that although most of the galvanized pipe fittings refer to malleable steel pipe fittings, but because some welded pipe fittings or other iron pipe fittings are also galvanized on the surface, so, in a strict sense, galvanized pipe fittings are not equal to malleable steel pipe fittings.

Wire fittings are the same, some iron fittings and even plastic fittings are also connected using wire fittings, but their material is not malleable steel. In the same way, in a strict sense, wire fittings are not equivalent to malleable steel fittings.
